Cesarean delivery Cesarean birth is the birth of the baby through a surgical incision (cut) in the abdomen (belly) and uterus (womb). Vaginal delivery is different, in which the baby exits the mother's vagina. Normal or vaginal delivery is the natural way that babies are born. However, there are times when you can not have a vaginal birth. Caesarean section may be a safer option than vaginal delivery if you or your baby have certain problems before or during labor. It is also possible that you and your doctor plan a caesarean section in advance. Or maybe you need an emergency cesarean section (unplanned) for a bad situation that happened during pregnancy. |
